Life is Precious

Life is so frail…

Too often it’s easy to forget this, when things around us are going well, when our friends and family are free from major medical issues, etc. But in an instant, any one of us could be dead and gone, we are all subject to God’s will.

Several weeks ago, as I was working at a remodeling job site, I walked around the back of the house, and in a little alcove which frames the back sliding door, was a little baby mourning dove, scared as all get out and barely able to fly. But fly he tried, he turned and flew directly away from me – right into the sliding glass door. He fell to the ground and fluttered helplessly, and as I approached I realized that his neck was broken, and was hanging limply, his little beak open wide, gasping for air. Attempting to prop him up did nothing for him, and he soon fluttered with death-spasms, and then visibly exhaled with his final exit. His body lay motionless, and there was nothing I could do. A mere two minutes before, he was a young, healthy dove, just getting his first taste of flying. Now he was dead.

God’s plans may not always seem fair to us. Some trials and tribulations may seem meaningless and unnecessarily painful. But nothing happens outside of God’s will, and even if we don’t realize it, He uses every situation to mold us and make us into who He wants us to be, and to accomplish His purpose in our lives.

God’s will be done!
